Guana Lake proposal

Post by dogyak » Thu Aug 29, 2019 3:22 pm

The UW-F Board of Directors has voted to oppose the proposal to change zoning for an area in the Guana River WMA from "conservation" to "residential'...The County Commission will be reviewing the subject at the September meeting. Here is the UW-F email to the County Commission:

Dear Commissioner Waldron,

UNITED WATERFOWLERS-FL, INC. (uw-f.org) has learned of a proposal to change zoning from "conservation' to "residential' at the Ponte Vedra Corporation's Outpost located in the Guana River Wildlife Management Area.

Guana River WMA is one of a few WMAs on the east coast of Florida. The area is utilized by the public for recreation and is important to waterfowl hunting. Housing is not compatible to the area. Guana River's natural places are treasures and should not be destroyed for a few houses.

UW-F asks that you oppose the zoning change.

Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Newton E. Cook
