Jax Beach Kayak Fishing

Post by lasemase72 » Tue May 28, 2019 2:58 pm

Not a lot of info about fishing within a mile of the beaches here in Jax. I know certain times of the year you can catch a Kingfish pretty close to the beach but is there really any good fishing other times of the year besides sharks?

I am all set up to troll open water on my kayak with an outboard motor but have not tried since the creeks are so productive.

Would live to catch Cobia, tarpon, big jacks etc which I know are mostly seasonal but don't have the time to drive south with 21 month old twins at home!

What are your thoughts/experiences?

I haven’t done this yet, but my goal this summer is to catch a tarpon off the pogie pods. Big reds too. Pogies are just showing up but should be thick in a few weeks. I’m sure you could troll for Kings with the motor on the kayak.

I was Huguenot the other night gigging for flounder and there were pogies EVERYWHERE. I think you and I have similar goals.
