Kayak sticks out my side windows

I have a kayak that sticks out my side windows about 2 feet on either side. Is this illegal? I have a small car. Sorry for the stupid question.

Turn the yak 90 degrees while its on top of your car; that should solve the problem.

I drive a Toyota Yaris....when i first had my red kayak (see my avatar), I used to load it into the car so that it stuck out the front passenger window.
I never had a problem.

I then bought the thicker pool tubes and started loading it on top....I can tell you, it wasnt a great idea as the Yaris top is not flat.
It can be done.

You will find that there is a smell to the kayak after its been in the saltwater and that loading it into your car transfers that smell to the inside of your car. Tack on shrimp/fish/etc smell of your kayak...inside car.
