Looking for 3" square aluminum tubing

Post by keastman » Sat Feb 25, 2017 3:53 pm

I'm looking for a 6-8' stick of 3" square aluminum tubing 1/8-3/16" walls for a trailer project I'm working on. I can find it on line but would be nice to pick some up locally, especially if perhaps a scrap piece for less.

Would appreciate any sources that folks might know of.

Also check your local recycling centers. They tend to put to the side large aluminum tubing pieces.

IM a bit late seeing this but if you ever need aluminum stock T&C metals on the W side is the place to go. I have been buying stock to turn on my lathe for 15yrs or so. Its a warehouse but they sell direct to the public.

I'm finding the metal suppliers only sell 20' sticks, about 12' more than I need. I found a alum fence supplier that has a post that fits my needs and will likely just get one of those. Same thickness and aluminum grade I'm looking for, but painted black. Will just have a funny looking trailer or have to paint the rest. Wow, just checked out Alro Metals and they were $20 more for the 8' I need than T&C was for 20' minimum purchase.

Any family owned aluminum fabricators around? I used to always order steel and aluminum from a small shop and the orders helped them with minimum monthly purchasing. Haven't bought anything in quite a while
