So I just got a .308 bolt gun bull barrel and I am having trouble deciding on a scope for it. Right now I have a 2-7x32 on it and at 100yds yesterday I shot a 5 shot group of 1.098in (measured outside edge to outside edge) but at 200yds I shot a 10 shot group (I only had one target left and 10 rounds) that measured like 3.6in. I know the gun can definitely do half inch groups at 100 and inch size at 200 so i want to get a scope that will help me get there. I am looking at the Nikon M-308 4-16x42 with either BDC 800 reticle or RAT but was wondering if a Mil-Dot scope of around the same price range ($500ish) would work better for me. I want to use this gun mainly for prone/bench rest shooting at the range but also for something I could hit head/man-sized targets out to 800ish yds.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
Scope choice: Mil-Dot or BDC
