Quick and Easy Shade
I saw the post on here awhile back where someone put a lawn tractor shade on their kayak. That gave me some ideas about getting out of sun to cool off and keep from lathering up sunblock every hour. I did some looking around and found a YouTube video about an adjustable umbrella. Hesitant to buy, I found the Versa-Brella on Amazon for $19.99 with 2 day shipping.
Friday I was on the water for 7 hours and gave it a shot. The wind played a big factor with the overall functionally but I found it nice. It was awfully windy Friday, with I’m guessing 8-10mph winds with gust up to 15mph. I clamped the umbrella to the back of my seat (Pelican Catch 120) directly to the fabric over the aluminum bar. The umbrella would move because of the fabric but the build quality is pretty good. The umbrella adjust in 3 different ways with the top able to swivel. I should have taken more than one picture but I found it useful.

Thanks a lot Jb3702 for posting this....not certain that it would attach to my seat (not a frame type seat!!) but a great item to have just in case!!
Sua...Thanks for posting that link to Amazon.....appreciate it!!

JYJ, I’ve been around awhile. Just forgot my old username and email. I’m sure it would work as long as their is some kind of bar for it to attach to.
SUA thanks for posting the link. I’m doing everything from mobile so it’s aggravating to get links sometimes.

Re: Quick and Easy Shade
Thanks for the post. There's no shade on the flats.. I might try it.
Re: Quick and Easy Shade
I have been using the xl version for a bit now. Really nice shade on hot days and the adjustability is good (if the plastic doesn’t break) as you can tilt it like a shield to block sun, not just sit under it. In wind and rain, a good golf umbrella is probably better. A bit fussy in the adjustments as you move, but blocking the sun a foot or two before it hits you really drops the perceived temperature.
