Hobie Outback Seat Upgrade

So I've read about this mod enough that I finally had to pull the trigger and do it.

Tried it out today...wow what a difference. Just in time for my Ft. Jefferson / Dry Tortugas trip!!

Is that a Jackson Kayaks seat....kinda looks like their logo.....nice job!!

The only suggestion I would give you is to find some really High Density Foam and glue it under where the metal seat posts touch the plastic decking!! I have read on the Hobie website about some people having cracks develop where the posts touch the plastic hull.....and that creates a potential Warranty Issue!!
Just a tip from a VERY NON-DIY guy...Me!!!

I did that very mod on my Outback along with the center hatch. I have to agree on the high density foam between the aluminum and the hull. I did mine originally without it and after hearing from our group I re-did it with the foam. Looked better, felt better an kept it like that until I bought my PA-12

Where are you buying the seat from, directly from Jackson? I would love to find a cheaper option than what Jackson is selling the seat for so if anyone got a deal that is still available let me know.

Hello Raburton and Welcome to JKF!!
Dunno where you are located, but you might call Black Creek Outfitters where I work P/T and see if they have and extra on in stock...or maybe a cosmetic blem that they replaced. You can call on Thurs. thru Sun. and ask for Clark, who is the "Kayak Doctor", and if we have one, he can find it and give you ideas on installing it.
