One Call and that was All!

Knowing that it was going to be very hot today and knowing that I had appointment after lunch, Max and I got a very early start. Our game plan was to be anchored at the bridge by seven, fish a couple of hours or so and then head home. We left the Dachshund’s Dock early and by 6:40 AM we were dropping anchor at the Crooked Creek Bridge!

I put two poles out with a Shrimp and Nightcrawler combo on each and kicked back to read a bit. My volume of choice today was Chuck Swindoll’s biography of the apostle Paul. I’ve read it before, but I always glean another nugget or two when I pick up this book about this man of “Grace and Grit.”

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by our United Healthcare Medicare Advantage group. They offered to send out a Nurse Practitioner to give me an abbreviated Physical at the house free of charge. Although surprised, I signed up since it would be here and free. Earlier this week the appointment was made between 2-6 PM today.

So, there I was sitting and reading. Pondering my surroundings, focusing on my reading, watching my dog and my poles and wondering about my Physical to come.

Around 8:00 AM my phone rang. It was the Nurse Practitioner who informed me that rather than 2:00 PM or later, she would be at my house at 9:00 AM! I explained to her that it would take me 45 minutes to paddle home, but I could make it by 9:00. So instead of fishing another 90 minutes it was one call and that’s all!

Max and I got home and met the young lady in time. She was patient, gracious, kind and qualified. My blood pressure was good. My heart rate was fine, and my blood sugar was A-OK. She seemed pleased that I take very little medicine and that I could paddle out to the bridge and back at 65 years of age. Except for a problem that I have with one of my toes I had a very good report, and this made me happy.

Good Lord willing there will be other days to fish and paddle but getting a good report today was very encouraging. You might be thinking, but did you catch a fish? All I can tell you is that I didn’t get skunked.

I hope you enjoy the photos……………

Horace...Very happy that you got a "clean bill of health".....and you owe much of that to clean living, exercising often, a good diet, and you faith in God.

Take care and Congrats!!
