I’ve been very busy assisting with some family medical issues, etc and haven’t been fishing since my last post back in May, over 5 months ago. I finally got a chance to get back out in the kayak on Sunday. MountainDewMan and I launched onto a local creek around 7:00 am during an outgoing tide. It was fairly breezy and cool, but comfortable. I started my day by stubbornly throwing the trusty Spook Jr top water lure with no success, while watching MDM catch Trout with Gulps. I finally gave up on the Spook Jr and switched to Gulps and soon started catching Trout and Reds. All of my catches were close to the bottom. Using Gulps, dead shrimp, and cut bait, we both caught a mixed bag of Trout, Black Drum, and quite a few Reds with some slot Reds in the mix. MDM reeled in the most fish. I brought home two of my Reds for the grill, a 24” and a 19”.

Great report! Maybe it's the lighting, but the reds don't look as red as the ones we were catching in the Gulf this past weekend. Yours look more silvery. Just need these cold fronts to bottom out during the week and not the weekend...lol!

Thanks all!

Steve,
They were very pale, like Reds in the surf, but we were not far from an inlet.

Mudfish....Nice to see that you are back from you hiatus and I am sorry for that issue!!

Very nice fishing trip that you and MDM put together, and congrats on the catch you two had!! Nice looking fish...and a great supper for you and your family!!
The reds were not very "red" so they much have been close to the ocean and clean water..and loved those blue tails!!
Please keep us posted!!
