Guana SML 3-13-16
Started the day out right around 730. I decided to launch from SML as the wind was coming out of the Southwest. I figured i could peddle south and let the wind blow me back. I hit several of my go to spots for trout and they all wound up producing. I managed to find no reds. I looked high and low and couldn't find one. A couple weeks back they were schooled up in a couple places but not on this day. I covered a little less than 7 miles in 4.5 hours. I did manage to find one sweet school of trout that only seemed to produce 18-22.75 inch trout. Almost every cast in this school produced an upper or over slot. The picture is the biggest of the day.
Lures tried with no luck:
17MR Emerald Glass Broken Glass
Flats Creeper by Banks Lures
Down South lures
#11 Skitterwalk Mullet Pattern
Zara Spook Jr White body Chartreuse Head
Only thing working
Popping Cork with 20 inch flourocarbon leader with 1/8th oz Sureset Jig with Perl Gulp Swimming Mullet
It did not matter what i threw all day they were not biting. I would switch over to the Popping cork and many times it would get hit before i could close the bail.
When all else fails on the water try the popping cork as it is a great search lure to find fish

Good report Tim, and it was I had a good time at the Happy Hour the other night. It was good food, good people and good conversation.

Nice report Tim, your experience sounds very similar to mine the last couple weeks. Lots of good trout but fewer than usual reds. I've landed a handful on MR but they've refused everything else. Maybe they're keyed into something? Saw a lot of micro sized shrimp out there...
