Solo PB Red

Post by islandspeed2001 » Mon Mar 07, 2016 9:11 pm

Went out for several hours to take advantage of the low tide and perfect weather. In total, caught 6 reds over 24". The first picture is a nice 30" red which is a PB on the Solo. Have caught bigger reds but this is the biggest on my new chapter of fishing.

These two came home for dinner. Have out of town folks who have never eaten redfish.

Great looking reds...How do you cook them?

Also, love the foam idea to hold your hooks and lures. Did you have the same when you had your PA? If so, where was your foam on the PA...I like the idea so much, i will likely do the same on my PA.

Thanks!

Just cut some pool noddle and dab it with Marine Goop on the side of your kayak. You will need to change it out after a while due to the hooks tearing it up. It will peel off easily.

Our favorite way to fix the redfish is to saute it in olive oil with black olives and bacon. We also will use blackening but very light.

I like the lure idea. I find myself just setting lures down all over the place during my random changes. Good organization tip, on the cheap!

Nice catching Jerry. My Solo has seen a number of reds but none have seen the inside of the craft yet. Am ready to ditch the fly rod and go to plastics next trip. Haven't been able to get out much.

You need to break that string of bad luck :thumbleft: You might also need to switch over to mullet or shrimp on that fly rod :D

Gumby, I was thinking the same thing on the foam noodle. After a long float I feel like I am on an easter egg hunt in the boat with hooks and lures instead of eggs. Invariably, I miss some.
