Post subject:  Simpson and Myrtle Creek?

Time for my annual trip to little Talbot state park this weekend. Are there shrimp and mullet in Simpson Creek yet? I’m thinking it’s still too warm. Wondering if I can net some or do I need to stop at the bait shop on the way in?

Anybody fishing at huegunot park? Wondering if I can fish for flounder there?

Thanks and if you see a yellow Hobie outback say hi.

We just camped there this past weekend with the kayaks. Dead low tide you can probably get bait at the ramp. BUT...the surf was slap full of a zillion finger mullet. So many, you could walk in the surf blindfolded and throw a cast net and have 2 dozen. Probably good fishing in the surf too...we just didn’t try cause it was rough. We caught reds in myrtle creek on the super high tide over flooded grass on spinner baits. And a few smaller reds on cut mullet.

Thanks for the information Jwray. Are you just getting the mullet from the beach in the park or is there an easier Access point.

We just went to the first parking lot past the gate and walked down to the beach. Have some polarized glasses.

Yes, there are shrimps and mullets yet and you can fish them. I don’t think so they are warm you can have in this weather too, no issue. Do let us know with the best essays updates when you will go there for fishing?
