Anyone going to go out and watch the JEA towers inplode?

Dead low tide is @06:03.
Where is the best place to launch to get a good view without getting stuck in the mud?

I've read that they're going to do it, but missed the date.
Do you know it?
Sounds like a neat idea.

Bet they fall at the same rate as the World Trade Towers and Bldg 7.

(Sorry, couldn't help myself). :angryfire:

The demolition is happening Saturday at 8AM. I'm thinking about launching into clapboard to get a better look.

Going to miss seeing fishing pictures with the towers blocked out in the pictures. Certainly wouldn't want to give away our secret fishsing spots would we :)

 Thank you EagleClaw! I was thinking I would have to paddle through clapboard creek first. (wasn't looking forward to the trek, given tidal conditions).
Thank you sir! :salute:

I will be on the A1A bridge at the south end of Amelia Island. Got a great view from there.

Eagleclaw. When you say Browns Creek do you mean over by Chowder Ted's?

I was kidding about Browns Creek. I think you're not suppose to park vehicles along the side of the road because some property owner got mad at the trash being left behind.

I plan to launch into Clapboard, paddle west to a good spot for viewing, stake out and fish until 7:55. Then about 8:00:21 I'll start fishing again.

I hope someone posts a selfie with a fish, and a cloud of dust in the background......

I launched at Clapboard creek. There were a lot of boaters using the ramp, I hand trolleyed down to the dock and launched from there to stay out of their way. I paddled west to the far shore with my only thought being get across to the west bank without being run over by someone. I was not sure what to expect. Kudos to the motor launcher! What I saw is courtesy to every watercraft that launched, regardless of how much of a hurry they were in, as it was getting close to zero hour.
I found an off shoot that looked wet and promising to paddle. There were two yaks already there. They were fishing together. (forgive me for not saying hello, Just wasn't comfortable paddling up on you while you were fishing).
It was a good spot for a nube. Not only did I get to find a good spot to watch the towers come down, It was a good spot to get a better understanding of the tidal flow and structures that would be hidden at high tide. I have a new respect for the tide system in Jax.
Two other notes I would like to share;
1. I turned my attention to my rod for what I thought was only a moment, and then heard blast. By the time I turned my head, There was only a dust column to be seen rising on the horizon. Physics! Got to love it.
2. Popped my cherry. after 3 mos. of taking my yak out I finally caught a fish! (Some of us are slow learners), the deck of my battleship was finally blessed with a whooping 4-1/2" catfish.

It was a good day!

Hey Fish Hound....First of all, CONGRATS on getting your first fish in your kayak!!
You have almost nowhere to go now except UP in size...LOL!!!

The sight of the towers coming down and the rumble must have been neat out there on the water!!!

Sorry for the delayed post.....

I was in the same area as Fish Hound, and caught the collapse on video. But the angle was not the best. Unless you knew it, it was hard to tell there were two towers. And they just started falling - if you looked away you might have missed it. I didn't hear the explosion until the towers were out of sight. Then one big BOOM and it was over.

Hecksher drive was CROWDED - both sides filled with vehicles, people in lawn chairs, cameras on tripods, etc, at 6:30. I bet the traffic was bad at 8:01 as well.

As for the fishing - nothing to brag about. A few small reds and a single small trout.
