Just got to DC

Post by DougyMillCove » Mon Apr 04, 2016 5:31 am

Hey everybody,
It's been hectic but Jen and I got the Uhaul packed and up to DC. We got it unpacked and delivered to the Uhaul up here and grabbed a quick dinner. Then we began the best game of two person life size Tetris I've ever been a part of as we miraculously got everything to fit. As for now I've got to finalize some small stuff like forwarding mail and what not, but after that I should be good to do something I haven't been able to do for a while, hang out with my wife and dog and be a family! Who knows, I may even post a fishing report! I'm looking forward to volunteering in a couple of projects up here as well. One of my best friends moved back to the area and is the person who introduced me to Power Soccer. It's Soccer for people in power chairs. He used to Play for the Brooks Barracudas in Jax and it was a blast to volunteer setting up the chairs for a game. If you're interested, check it out on YouTube under power soccer.
Thanks again for everything.
DMC
PS Chris, when things settle down here a bit I'd love to meet up and toss some flys together. Captain Rich sold me a sweet setup!

Wait...things settle down after a major move? Okay, when? Because I've been here for over 8 months and haven't been fishing here yet! :(

I'm just messing with you (mostly), but things are definitely a lot more hectic up here than down in Florida. I haven't even really had a chance to do even basic scouting. Of course after several months of settling in and finally getting less crazy, we end up having one of the worst Winters in decades, so that didn't exactly help. Fishing up here also takes a bit more commitment and planning unlike the relatively last minutes stuff I was spoiled by in Ponte Vedra right around the corner from Palm Valley Bridge, Guana Lake, etc.

Glad you made it up here okay. Perfect timing! I think the cherry blossoms are doing there thing all over DC. Unfortunately, this weekend we're supposed to have snow flurries, so...Winter ain't done with us yet!

Man Chris that sucks. Snow Flurries. Hope this is the last of the cold weather for you. I know you guys are ready for warmer weather.

"Jen, where did we put that coffee cup, you know the one with Jerry's picture on it? Oh yeah, and where is my zip board? I want to see if these hero sandwiches up here really are that long. Hey, what box has my underwear in it? And what about that gumby doll James gave me to remember him by?"

Good luck man, family is worth it.

The only time I've been fishing since August is when I'm visiting the house down in Florida (twice now). I'm getting anxious to get something regular going up here for fishing so I'll get to go more often just Florida visits. :(

You guys weren't supposed to tell anyone about the Gumby Doll.
