Not gonna lie.... my kayak catches more fish. But having a motor is so much darn fun!

especially after being on the water for 6-8 hours!! sure makes getting back to the ramp much easier.

Have you Solo Skiff owners thought about entering the Classic, by leaving the outboard at home? It seems like that would be within the rules, but I'm not positive?

8. NO MOTORS. The use of a boat or motorized water vehicle to transport your boat on the water is prohibited. All craft must be self-propelled – no engines are allowed. Canoes and paddle vessels designed to be paddled (not powered by motor) are permitted.

Most of us still have our kayaks for that if we wanted to enter. It's not a craft you want to paddle for miles. But if I was just going to pole it, I wouldn't have a problem. I can pole it faster than paddling a kayak in the shallows.

I will use my Solo in the Classic. My tourney spot only requires me to go 200 yards to my redfish hole, another 50 yards to my flounder spot and catch a trout on the way back to the launch as I drift with the current. No motor required.

My motor wouldnt start a couple weeks ago and i had to paddle it. Ill be honest, it was against the wind and current, and it just about broke me.... Its not the best paddle craft. However, once you get back into the creeks, it does really well. I only motor to the general area i plan to fish then paddle/pole around. And it poles great. Another nice thing, i can stand/kneel in it and take a leak, pretty much anywhere at any time. Ya cant see anything anyways, but thats my parents fault....

I dont fish tournements because im a terrible fisherman.

Wow, I'm surprised you gave up those two boats and got a Solo. Both of those were on my radar for years, though you will love getting up close and personal in the Solo too.

They were both awesome but I wanted my garage back I have a Hewes Redfishes 16 I really like the look of the Solo and missed my Hobie PA I figure this is a great compromise when I need a brain break alone and don't want to mess with the big boat
