Moving On
Well it is official, the military has decided to move me to Camp Lejeune, NC in a few months. Orders have been signed and house purchased. This is going to be one hard place to leave and I wanted to send out a big THANKS to the site members. I have learned a lot from folks here on the site and in person about fishing.
I was looking at buying another kayak once I moved to NC but my best friend from high school also just moved there and bought a house right on a creek. He has a Hobie PA and another kayak ready to launch out of his backyard any time and he lives less then a mile from where I will be. Looks like I have a place to play!

Re: Moving On
Ron,
Congratulations on NC. It sounds like you already have some great things going for you. I've enjoyed your input to the site for quite some time now. It's a small world that you and my wife ended up in the same masters program. She got orders for D.C. which is actually pretty cool. One direct flight. No more Jax to Texas to Washington to Alaska to the ferry ride to the mainland. That's a full day of flying backed up by a boat ride and a cab. I've got to stay here due to my job, but I'm certain I'll see my wife more frequently. I hope that your family is excited about the move as well. Keep us posted and don't be a stranger.

Re: Moving On
Glad to see you wont be moving away from great fishing my fellow Marine! There's plenty of good places to fish up there. My last duty station was just up the road in Cherry Point. Keep those lines wet Devil Dog and the best of luck for you and your family!

Re: Moving On
Thanks everyone, it should be fun to learn a new area and I will miss this backyard that we have here.
Yooper - they should be coming in soon. I charged my batteries last night and I am hoping to go try a few times in the next few weeks.
DaveInYak - even thought I appreciate being called a Marine because of the level of respect I have for them, I am a Coastie. We have a 220 person training unit at Camp Lejeune.

Good fishing up there. The world's record redfish was caught in NC.

Leaving a great place to fish and going to a great place to fish...win win! Good luck!
