We had a blast! We put in at the Lock and Dam Park below Augusta, and paddled down to Ebenezer Creek Landing. The weather was below freezing most nights, with the lowest being 26.5 deg. We had a couple of windy days, and a sprinkle of rain one night. My brother and his buddy were paddling Jackson Cuda 14s, and I was in a Jackson Big Rig. The Cudas were around 1.25 mph faster throughout, so I had the paddle the hardest! Here are some photos.
At the starting line!
A shore lunch!
A cold morning paddle!
Some camp shots!

The pair of Cudas!
I had a little help when a perfect wind presented itself, which might have been 2 miles worth! LOL
After a 30 mile day of paddling!

Apex....Very nice report on your epic kayak venture!!! I have always wanted to do a trip like that, but have only done "day trips" down some rivers in GA.....LOTS of fun, but missed the camping and cooking part!!!
I read your prior posts about this trip, and it seems like you paddled some LONGER STRETCHES than you told us about....HARD CORE!!
Thx for sharing and the pix too!!

It must have been too cold for banjos. Looks like fun, I guess you must have had some warm sleeping bags with those temps.

The plan was to paddle Sun-Sat, and average 20/day. We like to bank some miles incase of inclement weather surprises. Last year on the Altamaha we had to lay up for a full day due to rain. We ended up finishing on Friday afternoon. Our plan was to get inside ten miles and camp the last night, but the sheer bluff walls on both banks caused us to keep searching for a spot until we were really close.

Apex-
Awesome looking adventure! Been wanting to do something similar to that for a while but was thinking more like spring / fall. You are a brave man to schedule a trip like that in the middle of winter... hats off to you, sir!
My wife and I just returned from an anniversary trip to Savannah on Monday and it was C-O-L-D up there, but beautiful nonetheless.
Thanks for the report!

Apex, I wondered about finding camping spots. Glad to see you all enjoyed it. I may do another leg of the Altamaha later in March.
I owe, I owe, so off to work I go!
