I knew it was going to be a windy day yesterday, but I really wanted to get out on the water for a few hours, so I picked a secluded creek which is pretty far inland. The weather was nice and warm for January, but much windier on the creek than I expected, so I stayed close to the ramp and just worked the grass lines and bends. The water temp was very cold, but there was a steady bite. At one point, to get out of the wind, I staked out on a curve near a power boat which had a family of 5 on board including two young boys. We were all steadily catching small Reds, Black Drum, and Sheepsheads. Those two boys were having a blast. It would be a great time to take the kids fishing.

There were schools of 6-8 inch mullet cruising the grass lines. A Great Blue Heron stopped by for a quick Mullet snack.

No big fish today, but I did manage to bring home some Black Drum fillets for the grill :smoke:

Good catching tho and you hung in there and kept busy and took some fillets home!!

Your fishing buddy, the Great Blue Heron, did very well for his lunch...Great pix of him.
