I'd like to catch something besides rat reds out there for a change.

I have just been using frozen/dead shrimp, but I hear that scented bait strips or grunt/mullet cut bait and/or Gulp shrimp works pretty good.

For the Gulp users: what make/model and color are you using?

Do paddletails and poppers work good?

In general, what bait has been working the best for you for slot reds, drum, trout and snook?

Thanks in advance.

It's not the bait the lake is full of rats use muds will enable you to catch trout as well as reds most of the trout ate at least slot

I've always fished on the river side...mostly from shore, since the crabbing is almost always too good to pass up.

So mud minnows are the thing on BOTH sides, right? Anything species slot would get me out of my slump right now

Two other things that worked well . Mud minnows work well as said . But I would get to SML really early , and throw a castnet around the ramp . You can walk on the grass , otherwise the mud is thick , so stay on the grass . Pinfish are great bait . Also , try to catch a ladyfish or two . Used it as cut bait . Both trout and Reds love it . Caught some big Reds out there with both ways as said above .

trout pattern mirrodine

I have also seen guys catch some very nice sized reds on the spill side with live large shrimp on a slip bobber but that was in late November and cold

I've always had pretty good days out at guana when using cut mullet, especially out of SML. Also, either early morning or late afternoon, stocking tails and throwing a fluke will pay off!
