Had very limited opportunity fishing during family vacation in NZ and Australia. While fishing Twizel didn’t catch anything but witnessed local guy catching this nice brown trout on small egg pattern. In Sydney harbor got into some small blues and local kingfish which broke the line. Beautiful countries with unlimited possibilities... Maybe next time. ImageImageImageImageImage

In case you haven’t noticed, there really are some enormous and enormously fragile egos in fishing. I can tell you that having a big ego is like owning one of those huge dogs that crap on the floor and eat the couch if they don’t get constant attention.

Yes and few big rainbows in between. But Twizel is where all the monsters are . Some guys showed me pics of 30 lbs rainbows

Yep, stood on the end of that dock myself! I think the Twizel canals are probably an acquired taste - too heavy duty for me! Pity you went there at this time of year, not the best. I didn't fish the salt in Australia (or NZ for that matter) but I was kinda tempted by some estuary fishing, it just didn't happen.

It was a “family vacation “ so not much fishing but after talking to some guys in Sydney I’m thinking about just Australia next time. Darwin for barramundi and reefs for those crazy big GTs. Also saw people casting to squid which was interesting Image
