It all depends on which kayak you have. This seat has been my favorite so far. I'm not sure what other kayaks this seat is compatible with. I have a bad back also. I just have to make sure I keep a good posture if I'm going to be in the kayak for a while.

The best kayak seat supports your thighs. Look at the wilderness tarpon seats that have an adjustable thigh support system. This relieves back and butt pain. I tried a wedge hunting seat years ago and that’s all we have in our kayaks. I know it’s not an official kayak seat but it’s thick and provides excellent support under the thighs.

I would not trust that site. It is full of repeated misspellings or improper usage, and I think it offers questionable advice in some of the articles.

Had this one in my Heritage. Very comfortable, easy to install and easy on the bank. There are several videos on YouTube on how to install.

Jackson has a really nice lumbar support that you can mount to most seats. I use it and it makes a big difference.

For a Kayak the supports a "normal" seat I would suggest a Apex 1. You can pick it up at many stores.
