Was out at Guana yesterday about 1800 hrs.; then drove up to PVB and Palm Valley bridge.
I tried to attach several pix, but each is > 2 mb, way past the 120kb limit.

I put a few casts in for old times' sake, but it was as futile from shore as I expected.

- the river south was bone dry, lowest I've ever seen

- they're monkeying around with reconstructing the dam (yet again- thought they just fixed this last year):

A posted sign near the two earth-movers read: "This area of dam will be closed to all public access for repairs, March 23-July 30th."

- Only a few people there onshore, mostly catching crabs.

- ~ 3 kayakers: who had to be far north; stuck south at the juncture w the ICW; or lost in the mud.

- SJC police dealing with a murder at ~ 5 or 6 mile landing.

"Just another day at Guana", sadly.

Six mile looked like nothing but mud. I would have to figure it will stay that way until the raise the water level. So I would have to say the dam on the south end if at all.

Was there Saturday morning. Launched at the dam. Water marginally higher than in past weeks - probably all rainfall. Saw some 3 foot depths in places. Caught 5-6 redfish, all shorts. A few trout, one or two keepers. Most hits within 1/2 mile of the dam. With the low water, most of the east side is VERY shallow - less than 6-8 inches. Not too good for kayaks with pedal drives. Western side is navigable and fishable.

Let's see ...
(accessing, accessing)...

Believe it was 5.20.18.
I was scouting suitable launch areas; was working my way up the coast; think I was @ Guana Dam circa 1700 hours.
Made 5-6 mile sometime thereafter; and all the hubbub had already passed.

Think some girl from JAX had disappeared; and was discovered, deceased, unfortunately, thereabouts.

Believe they kept it somewhat quiet, as usual.
you know, PV Bch, touristas, etc etc.

In my 30-year experience around here, this has always been a high-crime area.
Why? totally isolated.
Place is like a magnet. Bad karma, whatever.

If the county would just run some power and illuminate those places ....
or God forbid, run CCTV...

Well, you know the response: blah blah blah... wah wah wah.
Anything 180-degrees from common sense.

And so, another year will pass.

Any water level updates? Drove a1a last week and 6 mile looked deeper. But hard to tell driving by at 55 mph. Was thinking of going tomorrow but have never had much luck when waters really low

Visited Friday afternoon. Water was up to the bottom of launch ramp - enough for a paddle kayak. Not sure if there was enough water for a pedal drive though.
