Last Sunday I fished a local creek with MountainDewMan. We launched during a falling tide with cool and dark water, stained and full of debris from all of the recent rain. We had a busy day of catching a variety of fish with Gulps and dead shrimp. MDM had two Snook and at least two Reds before I caught my first fish. One of my first hookups was a huge Tarpon. We both agreed that it was about 4-5 feet long. After a couple BIG jumps it came unpinned from the small 1/8 oz jig head I was throwing. A brief, but exciting battle.

For the day, we both caught at least a dozen each of Reds and Sheepsheads with some keepers in the mix. I also caught one small Snook. I'll be back, armed for a bigger Snook.

Thanks, John!

I hope you got your Snook this season. Seems to be a lot of them around lately.

WOW, you had a great day. Keep up the great work with the pics. I have only caught one snook, 17" and it was a good fight. Never even hooked a tarpon.

Thanks, Gary!

I've hooked some big Tarpon on some tiny lures and small pieces of bait, so you never know. A few years ago I was kayak fishing with JagYakR, soaking cut bait under the 206 bridge. I hooked a decent size Tarpon and it went berserk, jumping like crazy, and it almost landed in JagYakR's lap. It made a blistering run towards the flats, did a U-turn, then came back, circled around one of the pilings and broke off.

I haven't fished the Lake in a while. Maybe I'll see you down there sometime soon.
