Thanks for posting this, Rob.....and I was just about to start a HBD message for KayakMike!!

Many of the newer people in here do not know KayakMike, but he was the founder, owner, and the person who put his heart and soul..and some $$...into this forum!!

Mike and Brett Hastings and I met on another website and learned that we lived close together in Neptune Beach, and Mike said "let's go fishing sometime". He launched into the ocean and headed South and ran into Brett and I who lived close together and had never met, so the three of us headed south to the New Jax Beach Pier..which was not yet finished. Mike had a vision that Jacksonville would soon grow into a kayak fishing mecca and he decided to start a kayak fishing tourney....and it grew, and Grew, and GREW and topped out at about 450 kayak anglers one year....and became the "World's Largest Kayak Fishing Tourney".

I do not know the exact numbers, but I am pretty certain that Mike raised over $250,000 for the charities that we supported...especially Daniel for Kids and later on DSAJ.....Down Syndrome Assoc. of Jax and gave lots of $$ to Heros on the Water too.
So, Happy Birthday, Mike....my calendar says it is the Big 5-5 this year....WTG!!!
