First time at Guana Lake. Water level seems high, so I assume its been raised to its normal level. Finding the trout was easy. I was finding groups of them all over the east side (only found one group on the west side). It was kind of strange, I seen a ton of trout follow my lures back to the kayak but just not commit. I actually staked out for about 30 minutes and it seemed that the trout were just hanging out close to my kayak; actually managed to catch 2 from that group. After having a bunch of misses with single hook lures, I just used a spook and Mirrodine 17MR for most of the trip. I had to let the spook sit still for a long time for them to attack it. A long twitch (not too fast) and letting the 17MR suspend for 3-5 seconds seem to work best.

I caught 5 trout (largest 19.5 inch), mostly in 4 ft of water. I also caught 2 reds (largest 18.5 inch) in about 1-2 ft of water on the 17MR.

I need to start using mono leader on one of my rods because the line kept sinking while walking and then pausing the spook. I wish I had a fish bag (been eyeing that polar bear bag from a different thread).. had 5 keepers today. I didn't want to put them on a stringer because of the gators.
