well I realize this is a kayak forum but this boat (12ft) is smaller than some kayaks. As well, lots of good opinions here. Anyway, I'm almost done with the restoration and now thinking about a seat. It had a cheap-o fold over with a rusted spin device, not sure I want that again. looking for a clean simple design and prefer something that could easily be removed when not being used. Hoping the removal would increase the product life. Any thoughts?

I had a couple fold down seats that I put on my jon boat before I sold it. They had a clamp that went in front and behind the bench. They were sturdy. And stayed put. The clamp at the bottom was made out of like 1/4" bent rod. Look around you will find them. I will see if I can find an old pic. Good luck. The boat looks "SWEET".

Yep, I will keep looking around for seat devices. The boat was a complete restoration project. I've been toying around with the idea of buying a pedal Hobie or Soloskiff. Found this project and I will end up about same price as a Hobie including a new 8hp motor too. Hopefully it will serve my purpose, if not, well I learned a lot.

Bass pro sells a removable 360 swivel base for about $20 made of plastic that is solid, then you could mount the seat of your choice and and the option of quick removal and no rust. A lot of us are using them on the Soloskiffs. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Q ... 020627123/

Thanks keastman, that looks like an excellent option and has good reviews. A trip to BPS to lay hands on one is in the making.
