The city here has done wonders with the Palatka river front area

. The nasty old highrise is long gone and much effort was put into creating a space people could enjoy the location. There are plenty of places to eat all a short walk, a hotel right on the water and loads of parking. A word of caution however

The lower end of the parking lot is the perfect place for vehicle break ins since that area is below the observation line from the bridge or road. Evil doers will see you park in that lower "shopping area" and help themselves when no one is looking. Up near the top you should be fine. Palatka PD is many times over at the Roziers Oil depot across the street and can see foolishness in the street level lot. It's their ambush pooint for folks zooming over our bridge into town. Hey we are a small community got to fill the treasury somehow. All in all a decent spot, just watch where you park and watch your speed. Oh unless you are a log truck, they just plow right through.
