Hopefully not old news, actually saw a blip on google maps for the Bartram Canoe Trail...had to look it up and this is what I found. First chance I get I am going to hit this creek up and load up my Hobie Outback Trash Barge edition with some garbage and help these guys out.

That is a shame! Those guys had put a lot of work into that launch and the access road. :(

If you're on Facebook, look up Durbin Creek Wilderness Society. They have been posting pictures of the flooding. I saw a map of the entire system, its a lot bigger than I thought. 13 miles all the way around. Pretty cool. I haven't paddled it yet. Those guys have done a really great job with that area.

Wow -- I didn't realize that little creek went all the way to the St. Johns right past Mandarin Park (where I've put the canoe in before)! That would be a great trip!

Besides my fat posterior, my canoe could hold almost 450lbs of garbage. I might have to think about making a day of it one of these weekends.

My two boys were horrified when I pulled a can, plastic cup, and a banana peel out of Guana Lake. I told them that just like when we're camping, you're supposed to leave it better than you found it. It's not nature's fault that some of our fellow humans are jerks.

I'm confused Ferg,

Followed the link to the Bartram Canoe Trail blog, great site but I found nothing newsworthy there. I'm not on FB and can only assume from other posts there is a cleanup needed. Can you post a link to the news article you mentioned? More info? Thanks.

Those guys have done a TON of work to clean up that creek.
Yet, it's a constant struggle for them, because idiots like to use it as a dumping ground.

We just got back from the canoe trail. Armed with empty boats and trash bags we were going to kick some garbage butt. You couldn't buy a piece of trash on that trail today, the cleanup on the fourth was awesome and we wish we knew about it sooner. Those folks are amazing! Hats off to you guys! And a great big SAAALUTE from the corn field!

The paddle was as beautiful as usual we saw some large Barred Owls, turtles and woodpeckers but the highlight of that trip has to be the trees, just wonderful back there.
