Went out with my dad last night to the Oak Harbor ramp off A1A. After playing with some low tide "hotspots" and not getting anything we decided to move toward the ICW and bottom fish some dead shrimp. Tide started to come in about 30 minutes after we got there and the boats were not at all forgiving. Boat after 25'+ boat came by rolling small to 3-4' rollers at us (keep in mind we're staked about 50 feet from the shoreline). If anyone has been out toward the ICW at oak harbor you probably know that the bottom near the mouth of the creek is extremely rocky and it can be a pain bottom fishing. We still played with the idea and after a couple casts i thought i had lost my bait after a couple bites so I began reeling in when the drag started yelling and the rod bent over. I tightened the drag a bit while still reeling in as i could and about 6 minutes later this baby popped up! More than DOUBLED my PB flounder! 24"!!!! It was a beautiful fish and after renewing my license I took that thing home and cut my 4 filets and will be cooking them tonight. :)

You know... you shouldn't hang them like that... HAHA! Just kidding, I doesn't matter if you're going to eat them anyway! Great fish!

Great fish! I'm zipping around that area a lot in my boat and I generally try to idle past kayakers or small boats fishing, but if it's a busy day I'd never get back to the marina if I stopped for everyone.

Some of the larger vessels don't know they have their bow way out of the water and they're throwing 3-4' wakes that could really do some damage to an unexpecting smaller boat or kayak. Maybe they do know, and they're just A-holes, I dunno.
