It started off slow but finished strong, boated four lady fish this morning, then four reds this afternoon. A 24" , 25", 27" and my new PB a 33". Kept the 25" and the 27". The 33 was the second half of a double, broke off the the first. Also broke off three others, they were big fish as well.

The water at the lake is as high as I have ever seen it, clairity is poor at best. It took until after lunch before the water was warm enough to trigger a bite. It sure fired off when it did though, C.

Great report as usual. Outstanding quality fish you found there. What were they hitting and did you find any trout?

I got to see and hear about this first-hand at SML today! It was a pleasure finally meeting you, Crusher! Definitely the man at Guana Lake!

Glad to see your persistence paid off with some very quality fish C....

I left about 1230 without a single fish or even a bite for that matter. Looks like I should have waited a little longer...

Thanks fellas, the replies were very generous. Ron, all fish were caught on cut lady fish. Don't ever throw them back until you know the fish are biting arties that day. I had fished TW, SS hard and soft, Gulps in various shapes and colors, a spinner bait, a "black, red ripper spoon", a custom painted spook jr. with a flame job, pretty much everything I catch fish on with little success. The lady fish were caught on the spook jr with the flame job. The trout are there but small, I'm over catching dink trout.
Again, the red bite is all about water temperature at Guana. One more thing I would like to mention about yesterdays trip, the gators are getting awfully friendly, I had one follow me to all three small islands just north of the tower, he flat refused to give up that area. Popped his head up eight feet from the canoe at the third island, I gave up the spot and moved on. I'm not afraid of them but do show the proper respect when they are in an offensive posture.

for the love of fishing, C.
