If you get to read this during the weekend, try out a few different things:
1. Fish at night along the rocks West of the Catwalk bridge using lipped diving plugs. I personally like X-Raps in the 10 or 12. Also try throwing Bomber Windcheaters along the North Jetty at night. Best would be during an Outgoing tide. Cast the Cheater out, creeeeeeep in back in as slow as you possibly can, and when it gets to be parallel to the pilings let it swing against the current while VERY SLOWLY bringing it back to you. I usually get a few Snook that way.
2. Don't be afraid to throw your heaviest gear. Sure, SI is a great place to sport your fish, but since you don't get to go down as often, grab your heavy set-ups, catch some Mullet or Ladyfish and Chunk them right in the mouth of the Inlet. Big Reds should be cruising around right about now and will readily pick up a chunk.
3. If you brought the boat, a standard drift is definitely in place. Long section of 40 to 50lb Fluoro with just enough weight at the top to get it to the bottom but not snag. Drifting a Pinfish at dusk on either tides (again, Outgoing preferable) will land you a good amount of Reds, Snook and Jacks.
Again, if you get to read this during the weekend, feel free to gimme a buzz 4076253367 (Justin). I regularly fish SI and have spent a few years figuring out the "holes" and whatnot. Good luck!
