This is what happens when you prefish your spot the day before the tourney!!! 8am this 27" Trout grabs a hold of my DOA shrimp. Didn't even relize it was a trout until she slipped into the net. Needless to say it was a nice surprise and a dissapointment at the same time.

Congrats, thats a really big trout, it allways comes as a suprise when you latch onto a fish that size and it turns out to be a trout.

big fish rule, C.

Awesome trout. Forget the tourney! Fame only last for a couple hours. Your PB trout will last a lifetime!!!

I feel ya man me and my cousin Nate went out Friday, and tried one spot that someone showed us, and caught nothing. So we decided to try another one, which by the time we got there was like 10:30. We caught a combined slam which was 60" ,and I got a 55.5 slam and was only there for a little while. We wouldn't have won with that, but I think with no wind Saturday we all would have done well. Either way was a fun weekend I enjoyed Friday. And congrats one that trout its a beast you got my pb beat by 2" mine came from Sherman right by the bridge on a badonkadonk.

Congrats Ed on your PR/PB trout.....she's a beauty too!!
Those "gator trout" do not come along very often, so each of them is a "special event".....

Great picture BTW....and thanks for showing the newbies how to properly hold a big fish on a "redfish wrench"....supporting it insted of hanging vertically and possibly injuring it....you are a good sportsman!!
JohnYaksJax

PS1: Duane from NC wanted to spend his last day in JAX at his favorite location, so I used it to pre-fish the Classic. I got a 22" flounder and had it on a stringer since his wife Melody loves to eat them, and then decided to let it go....and hope to catch it again on SAT. He said my chances were "one in a million" and I replied that it he or I ate it my chances would be ZERO!!! Needless to say, the strategy did not work on Sat, and it would have missed First Place by 1/10"....LOL!!

Ps2: That same trick "possibly" worked a few years ago when I caught a 5# sheepshead a week before the El Cheapo Sheepshead Tourny and let it go and the guy I was fishing with almost jumped in after it and said it was crazy!! The next week I went to the same place, fished the exact same way at the same spot, and caught a sheepie the exact same length!! Same fish?? Maybe, but it did provide a win in the kayak division and a prize of $300!!!

Thanks John, she was a slob with (my size I don't do her justice me being 6'3" 280lbs). Didn't really want to use the grips but was afraid she would flop away with me trying to hold her with my hand but the less you touch them your hands the better.
