Hey Will, Thought I would pull the 9 weight out of the tube since it hasn't seen daylight since last summers striper trip up north with you guys. It actually is the ideal weight for the conditions we had.

I will be back home first and second week of July. Will be out in the Berkshires for my wifes U Mass Reunion and some trout fishing for four days and will be down the Cape for two days visiting a friend of Sandy's. Plan on fishing the Monomoy Flats for Stripers :D . I will PM you with my plans so we can striper fish a few days......can't wait :smoke: .

It looks like you are fishing the high tide...is there a preference between high tide and low tide when fishing the surf like that? I am very familiar with that location and would love to get out there with the fly rod but haven't had the chance yet...I assume it would be a good idea to use some sort of sinking line, right?

BS,Cool..........there here, got couple Sat. prospecting w/ T&W keepers w/ lots of sea lice. Tides should be good for my 1st Joppa wade next week, I like my 9wt for the surf too........do some nice early am (3-8am) flyfishing off Crane's Beach had some 40"ers roll on flys in the surf :thumbleft: . Keep you posted, July should still work nicely for wading the Joppa. :smoke:

Wow that looks really cool. Did you guys sigh fish them or blind casting? I know its much to ask but how far is that from 210? Im not going to ask any more details for location here in SF you get your head chew off for asking this type of question :? It is good to see that its quite possible to target reds from the beach. Scenery reminds me of some beaches in Bahamas: No people and some great fishing. And yes these fish are so silver......Again Awesome

We were fishing High Tide this time but I usually fish both ends of low. As far as line choice clear intermediate lines are the way to go in this surf.

Shallowrunner123 we were sight fishing and blind casting. As far as distance from 210 probably about an hour.

Damn I lived all these years in Holyoke MA and never did any stripers fishing but then I was more into lobstering. Now that I think about it I had a stripper steal a lobster once right from my hand
