Just curious ...

How many people pre-fish their holes Friday before a Saturday tournament? Pros and cons?

Only prefish on a friday if the fish weren't there on thursday :smoke:

With so many out of towners fishing the tournament, there will be lots of folks coming into town trying to figure out where they are going to fish. Folks who live in the area have been known to have jobs which prevents them from fishing during the week. Then there are some folks who fish every day....

If I know where the fish are holding, I don't want to put any pressure on them for the next day. Problem with that approach is that the three other guys who fish your secret hole may not practice the same approach ;)

This is only my second tourney so I havent been able to test my theory but heres my .02. I thought about prefishing where I'll be but decidied against it for 2 reasons. My first fear is that you have a ridiculous day of prefishing only to have spooked them off the spot for a few days and post a goose egg come Saturday. Next fear is what do you do if you come up empty prefishing? You have a spot that you trust come tourney time because it has produced in the past, do you rethink your stradegy the night before because of a prefishing skunk? I believe any big event like a fishing, golf or high stakes poker tourney is as much if not more mental than physcal. The power of positive thinking is a powerful thing. Trust your spot, trust your game!

Plus I like to fish all over before a tourney to spook the fish off as many peoples holes as possible :D

Typically do not have time to pre fish. When I have it made little matter. Guess that is why you don't see much of me around the award ceremony! :clown:

I take that Friday off from work to fish, I guess you could call it prefishing. I dont always fish my go to spots on Friday but its a good excuse to be out on the water. I plan on fishing this Friday for at least half a day and then head on over to the Captain's meeting.

At least you guys have a plan!! I haven't caught a flounder yet this year so I guess that takes me out of two categories!! Top that with I can't catch a fish worth measuring and I'm really just showing up for the food and raffles!! :(

I'll fish my regular spots as always. Over the last few years I've caught fish there that would have easily won the event. However those catches were always at another time and day rather than tourney day. So I keep trying to see if the timing issue can be beaten, you never know.

It's all about the fun for me guys, and when you take the fun out, its no fun anymore. ;)

I always fish with my bro James on classic Sat, so I guess i'll continue the tradition. :smoke:
