Ok, I bought OK Prowler 15 2nd hand and live carting distance to the 206 bridge in Crescent Beach. Tried EVERYTHING - live shrimp, dead fresh, now I'm using gulp shrimp lures and can NOT seem to catch a single red. I believe I'm actually living out the Truman show where everybody knows there's no such thing as a red, but I'm secretly being recorded trying to catch the damn thing!

I paddle in between the oyster beds, I'm very quiet and cast upstream into the oncoming current (if there is any). I use a "jerk - jerk - reel" motion with the gulps. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. All I can seem to catch are gar and undersized flounder.

Thanks! :beg:

give it time !! DA SLEIGHOR will produce !! make sure you are fishing in moving water !! you said if there is a current ? if your fishing dead high tide or dead low tide, nothing will happen !! its two hours after and before. think about it, when the tide switches it either pulls the bait fish off the oyster beds, or pulls them back onto the beds. find a nice turns with some deeper water " moving water " post up and cast. anything else give me a shout. hows it holding up ? did you put some more stuff on that crack??

Yeah, she's doing great. Not helping the situation is an injury I have in my right elbow, so I'm not able to properly hook a fish. The wife decided we aren't going to church this morning, so I'm gonna grab some fiddlers and head out!

The 206 bridge area is one I've found very productive. Take a look at the fishing spots section on our site that covers the 206 bridge area. You should be able to use the aerial views to see the areas that are deeper. Those Zones will hold fish during the tide changes on one side or the other of the bars or entrances to the deeper zones from either side. Starting out for most folks I've suggested using 8lb mono then leader with 20lb fluorocarbon. Loop knot tie on your jig head and use zero hardwear outside that jig head. Weight wise the heads I use vary from 1/8 ounce to 3/8 ounce most of the time. I've gotten a number of reds on topwaters in that area too. I prefer a Super Spook or Super Spook Jr but have also had success on Chug Bugs. I throw those lures on baitcasting gear with 16 to 20lb mono.
