Well, kinda. The trout was only about 10". But the flounder and red were nice. Also caught a smaller flounder, a mess of ladyfish and a couple of whiting. Only one redfish bite all day, at least it was this fat 25 incher. Good fight, too. Flounder were caught on shrimp on a jig head, red caught on a shrimp on the bottom. All were released healthy. I cannot catch anything but ladyfish around the high tide at Mill Cove. Anyone have any suggestions?

EDIT: By the way, the red had a BIG mullet half way into his belly when I caught him.

I dunno, Steve. I have like a three hour window to catch fish there. Maybe that's a good thing, but I can't ever get myself to leave.

WTG on the Slam, Chili!

Beautiful pic of the sunrise, and one nice fat red!

I do the same thing, look forward to that 3 hour window but stay out all day hoping to catch more.

Very nice red there Chili! I'm planning on fishing the cove and some spots in the blount Island area for flounder. I was thinking of putting in at Fulton. Is that what do you do? I also know of some folks putting in at Lonnie wurn but that looks like a long paddle to Blound Island. Any Info. is very much appreciated. Thanks!

Arun.

Congrats on the slam, I would use the lady fish for cut bait
, gator trout cannot resist it, if I could find some at Guana, I
I could go get you a 25+" trout today.

Nice red, C.

Fish the grass flats to the West of Lonnie Wurn ramp on an incoming tide. Reds and trout THICK AS THIEVES in there, just make sure to get out of there before the tide turns around and falls again, or else you'll be doing the suction stomp through a hundred yards of St. Johns River muck.

Crusher - I've cut up ladyfish before, and I'll do it again especially due to what you're saying about the gator trout.

Kingfish - I did find a spot that was working at high tide, but good to know another. I launch at LW ramp, anyway, so I'm sure gonna give it a shot! Thanks!

Fulton launch is okay, but a little messy and less parking. Also, if I want to be at my spot for low tide, then I can ride the outgoing from Lonnie Wurn to the east part of the cove. They seem to be about equal distances, but I could be wrong.

We need to start a tournament called "Slamming the cove"!!! Have everyone put in either at the burnt ramp or the ramp on the westside of the cove and see what everyone can come up with! an inshore slam 50 dollar buy in......
