Made a video of everything I have been catching this month with the cast net. This is all from Moncrief Creek in North Jax.

Hope you enjoy!

He wont eat the mullet. But if I don't watch he will grab them one by one and put them in a pile that I have to find somewhere in the yard. The only fish my dogs will eat are the small shad. They will eat those like tic-tacs.

Here is some more videos of action in the creek if you guys are interested.

@ Dread

There is a ton of shrimp right now but they are just a little to small and go through the net. But I would guess in a month I will be getting a bunch.

That sure looks like a fun thing to try. And your dog seems to enjoy playing with the catch ;)

Just a quick question, how much do those nets weigh? Would a child be able to do this? Just wondering if this would be a cool thing to try with my family.

The net in the video is a 6ft 1lb per foot. It not to heavy, but if you want a light net you can get 4ft foot that is 3/4lb per foot. Those are really light and still good for depths of 4-5 feet. You may have to check out Gander for those. Super Spreader has a good selection of small nets with the 3/4lb weight at Gander. Walmart has all the sizes but they seem to be 1lb + per foot.

To give you an idea I used to have a 4ft 3/4lb per foot net that I had 2 lines attached to. I could throw a spinning circle (60 ft with both lines) with ease cause of its weight. Just make sure you get the 3/4 mesh so you don't lose the bait side fish.
