I trying to figure out what to use to be able to transport kayak on top of it....

Hello Shallowrunner....A good way to get some ideas is to use the Yakima Configurator: www.yakima.com

It should ask you the Mfg. and Model and Year of the RAV4 and maybe a question to see if it has anything on the roof now.

It is actually pretty easy to use....wish that I could help you more!!
