Todays Tourney!!!

Today I fished my 1st yak tourney ever, ofcourse I been yak fishing for many yrs now just never wanted to fish tourneys but must say its really fun meeting folks and just hanging out... Got on the water about 645 and went to catch a quick trout and maybe 3rd cast with my OverBoard Rod rod and SureSet Jig combo got a 16 incher, put it on the board and put token on it and flip there he went in water before i got a pic.. few cast later hooked another which was 17 and got the pic of him... Damn i tell you taken pics of fish on a board in a yak is tough... decided to try a few more cast and caught a 19" and decided i wanted to go get a quick red... made a 5 min paddle and maybe 3 cast bam drag screaming and pulled hook... next 15 mins i got 2 flounder 15-17ish inces... then hooked another red which was small at 19" which i was ok about maybe 30 mins in tourney and had both fish i needed just needed bigger ones.. maybe 1 hr went by and hooked a decent fish and fought it and she got me wrapped around a crab pot so that was tought but ended up landing her and she was 32" on the board but if i pinched the tail could have gotten another inch outta her.. So by 9am i had my 2 fish i needed plus a few flounder....With all that said Overboard rods held up great and now are tourament approved and tested as well as SureSet jigs.. My son baseball game and pics were at 1 so I stopped fishing at 11am to do that.. Not thinking it was gonna hold up beccause there were alot of good guys fishing it but did end up with 1st.. Super excited my 1st yak tourney was a win and glad I met alot of people from this site... will post pics later

Good going Ed, we had a blast with everyone and the weigh in at Hooters was great, there were quite a few people who helped out by either donating prizes or helping behind the scenes, including yourself, it was a lot of fun plus we raised money for the Wounded Warriors in the process, a great way to spend a saturday. :cool:

Now its time to get ready for the Crown Jewel of the kayak world the JKF CLASSIC!!!! I hope to see everyone there.
