Hey guys. I am in the process of putting together a water-borne and land-borne clean up on the San Sabastian River in St Augustine. It is going to be the morning of May 19 starting at 0730. This clean up is being sponsored by the company I work for (A-C-T Environmental and Infrastructure), the City of St Augustine, FEC Railroad, and St Johns County Dept of Solid Waste. I need as much help as I can get from kayakers cleaning this estruary up since it is in bad need of it and the only way to get around on the water in that area is by kayak or by canoe due to the bridges it flows under. This area has some great fishing in it and is becoming a popular place for the local kayak fishers ( which I am one of them myself). So get in touch with me and I will give you more details then. Thanks for your help in advance and happy paddling!

Hey guys.....more info for you. On the day of the Clean-up there will be two staging areas one along SR 16 just before you get to the river crossing which is just West of the FEC Railroad and US 1. That is the best place to put in since the tide will begin turning about mid way through the event and begin heading out with HT being at 8am. Also there is more parking in this area both on the North Side of SR16 and the South Side of SR16 ( which will be the staging area). The second staging area is going to be along US 1 South across from Orange Ave on the right just before you get to where the new bridge is being built over the river.
We will start about 0730 with a safety breif and check out gear before hitting the water around 0800.If you can't make it early then get there when you can. The clean up will end around 1200 give or take a bit. You don't have to stay the whole time, but any amount of time will help in this effort. We are hoping for a big turn out both from boaters and people on foot so if you don't feel like draggin the boat out then that will be fine too.

If you have any questions, hit me up and I will answer anything I can. I am workin on a map because I can't post the one I have now so keep your eyes open.
As always...Happy Paddling,
-Jeremy

Hey Gang...after alot of scouting the area out yesterday, we have decided that the only real place and best place to put a boat in is up at the North Staging area along SR16. Reason being, the parking along US 1 and near the South Staging Area is not kayker friendly meaning it is a small area. You could put in there, but that would mean that you might have to park along US1. So we will leave that up to you. The North Staging Area has a great place to put in on both sides of SR 16 with plenty of room to pull gear and get ready.

Thanks for the support we have already gotten and we look forward to seeing you guys there!

Happy paddling, :salute:
