I've had my Native Manta Ray for about 2 months but hadn't had a chance to take her out. She's a second fishing kayak (upgrade) and a treat to myself after selling my flats boat. :( Been slowly rigging her up and finally got my final pieces this week so had to get out on the water.

Headed out to Simpson's creek around 9am to hit my favorite spots. Wind was blowing pretty good and scattered rain all around me in the distance. First spot, pick up a small flounder on mud minnow. Next spot, pick up a small trout on artificial. Paddle to my favorite hole and anchor to get ready for the action. Couple hours go by - nothing. See some rain in the distance heading straight for me so I start my way back. Fishing all along the way, I stop at a nice looking oyster bed, cast out one of my last mud minnows and something takes it immediately and starts pulling out drag. Battle for couple minutes and I net a nice fat 23" with 5 spots. Success! :)

After that, i high tail back to the launch to avoid being stuck in the rain. Starts raining just as I tie down the yak. Perfect timing.

A few photos attached to share.

Nice looking rig, and nice slam! Your pics came out great, Might wanna rig up a camera mount. I used some small PVC (borrowed the idea from a youtube vid) and the pics come out great, and they give a good perspective of the size of the fish. The fish seem even bigger when I tell people that I'm three feet tall and I have a shrunken Beetlejuice head!
