I know what I had today is equivalent to just one of the many occasions for many talented anglers.
But, for me today's catch was one of the most remarkable catches I've ever had...
I went to Six Miles Landing of Guana Lake this morning. Only one truck was sitting in the parking area except my Civic.
I hesitated to launch my kayak even if I was already there... because of the very gusty wind.
But, I decided to fish at least for several hours there today. I
paddled toward south near the bird watch tower. The wind gust was getting even stronger. I decided to go back. Paddling against the gust (coming from northeast) was very challenging. I kind of regretted coming out... By that time No hit for more than an hour.
When I reached near east side of the lake, I decided to troll my Rapala lure because the wind got milder. It was before noon when my reel started screaming! Oh no!
I really thought I had my Rapala snagged on a dead tree in the water. I really felt very unlucky. I paddled back to the point where I saw the end of the line at water surface. But, somehow I felt something moving at the end of the line. I realized a creature was at the other end. I wondered if it was a gator. I and the mystery creature were fighting for many minutes. I was at risk of my kayak being flipped a couple times because of the pull and wind. Finally I was able to see the creature. It was a redfish.
Fortunately I was able to land it successfully. I measured it on my kayak; it was about 32 to 33 inches long.
I managed to take a few pictures of it and released it alive.

I am so glad that I came out in the gusty wind condition. Also I am very proud of my
Ardent S2500 spinning reel for standing up against the big ass red.
