Whats up everyone? I'll be back up in Jax for the weekend to see the lady and will probably be making some time to fish. After reading morocco-madness' post about the Big Ugly, I'm starting to think it's that time again. Being in such a Go Big or Go Home mentality, I'd like to target some of these guys while I'm up.

I was thinking about hitting Nassau Sound again, High on Saturday is at like 10:30 though and would like to hit a Low. Other than Blue Crab, any other advice you guys can offer up while I'm up here? I have a ton of tackle, just need to know what kind of rig, general area and other bait ideas

How to and where to:

"Drum Sandwich" is the bait for ugly mommas and paapas. Take a 8/0 gamigatsu octupus circle hook, thread a quarter/half blue crab first then a whole sea clam. Launch at white shell bank on Hecksher, head east towards sister's creek entrance, find hard bottom in 40 foot water next to a drop off/ ledge, drop your sandwich with 6 oz pyramid sinker on a 3 way swivel rig with about 18" of 40 lb fluro leader, put your rod in a rod holder and pop open a cold one while you wait for the bite!

Very Important safety notes:

Make sure to carry at least a 5 lb kayak anchor with plenty of line with a quick release assembly. while waiting for the bite or a fish drags you to the main channel or a ship comes by, release your anchor (with bouy), put your reel in free spool in rod holder and paddle/peddle like crazy to towards closer to the bank to be safe. Then, when all clear, go and tie up to your anchor while reeling in the slack in your line. If you have a fish on during this time, don't worry you won't lose the fish by putting in your reel in free spool as the 6 oz sinker will keep enough pressure on the circle hook to be set all the time when you don't have tension in the line. Wear your PFD's all the time with the whistle attached to it. Have a bright flag to show your presence.

There you have it all. Post some pictures if you get on 'em!

Who ever reading this post and catches a drum in this spot with the method I have stated above, don't forget to thank me

To all the stinkpot lurkers reading this post, if you get out there, please be respectful to the kayakers and follow etiquettes!

Go and let the drags scream and good luck!

Arun.

Thanks guys, I know you too would provide awesome info  I don't have access to a kayak or any other kind of boat though for the weekend...but I have plenty of heavier 8-9' Rods (Teramar WC, TiCa Surf Rods, etc) to get baits out anywhere in the channel. Plus, that "Drum Sandwich" looks AWESOME!!! I would totally eat that if I was a big a$$ Drum!

Arun: Gimme a PM sometime before Friday night and hopefully we can chit-chat a little.
