Congrats on the first time out and PB. John [ Mayor of OH ] is a great teacher/guide. Looking forward to getting to fish Jax again with John and Duane soon. Both great people and excellent fishermen.

QDOG....Thanks for starting this fishing report AND for adding those pix...the ones in the GALLERY are very good and looks like a really nice supper!! Betting that Mama was pleased!!

You did really great out there on your first kayak fishing trip!! You handled the yak nicely in that wind and current, your stake out techniques were very good for getting the right position, and your casting was "spot on" once you mastered casting sitting down...your cast on those two slot reds were perfect placements!! I had fun watching you....

I was trying to get you and Duane into my normal spots and fortunately it worked. You had a nice first trip and Duane got that trout early and the big sailcat and maybe more when he headed in earlier than us. I started with that small stingray, then a 12" trout, a yellowtail, a small flounder and then that 16" flattie that I gave to Duane for dinner last nite, and finally got a 19" redfish and that nice red that "pinched out" to 23", so it was a "small slam" for me...could not find a legal trout!!

Duane is out there right now and I am supposed to join him and it just started raining so I am calling him now....
I have some good pix of you and your fish, so I need to get them loaded to the notebook and on here....soon I hope!!
Let's do it again soon!!

Lots of cool places to check out in the immediate area. If you like to venture out early in the mornings or go to other places try the fishing spots listed above. My first outings using it for launching local were in Mill Cove, The Little Jetties and Exchange Island under the Mathews Bridge from Arlington Boat Ramp. As I made it south in OH to Dutton a few times I then started Checking out cool places like Guana River, Tolomato River and ...
With the kind of First Timers luck you posted your headed for a lot of fun fishing this way. :thumbright:

I fished with those guys today. Sounds like ya'll had better luck in Oak Harbor than we did in Browns.

Hey Jizzo.....Yesterday at Oak Harbor was MUCH EASIER that today at Brown's Creek!!!

I thought you did great for your first trip in the new W/S Ride 135, and you got that flounder pretty early on the trip!!! Congrats, since it took me nearly THREE HOURS to get my 18" flounder!!

Not my favorite place to fish, and the RIPPING TIDES and the WINDS of probably 10-20+ with stronger gusts made it a "fun" day...

Whatever, we all caught fish and our newbie friend, Duane, from NC did well and caught a "small slam".....Good going!1
