I would ask that they give you a Orvis gift card and then you could select things on an individual basis. Get yourself a good vice and simply add other things as you go. It's always fun to go into a fly shop and buy something each time :smoke:

I have to stay away from Black Fly...I can't seem to go there and not drop a ton of money on materials I don't really need.

I have had the Renzetti Traveler for 20 years. It has been a great vice and continues to be a good choice. I simply don't tie my own flies anymore. I probably ought to sell it and all the other stuff since all it does is collect dust

I second the Traveler. I'll give ya $20. A buck for each year. :D

I told James he'd better be studying hard since I'm putting him through school.

I have dealt with Orvis for 45+ years and never had any of their products be less than as advertised. A couple years ago , the reel seat on a 25 yr old Western series decided to corrode away one winter. I wanted to keep it original so I called them up and explained the problem. They said for $35 they would replace it. When I got it back, they had replaced reel seat and grip AND rewrapped the whole thing...for $35 and about 2 weeks time! Any problems with their products, call the company in VT and they will bend over backwards trying to make you happy.

Well I wont be getting a refund or gift cards but shortly after talking with orvis directly I received a call from flint creek management so situation was resolved and will be getting a new vise. In conclusion orvis very good and pleasant company but flint creek to be determined.

Menzor,

I still have the vise sitting on the fly fishing desk waiting for you. I apologize for all the inconvenience of the situation. If you're ever in town on a monday stop by from 5-7 I hold a free fly tying class!
