It has been awhile since I have been able to get out with my little fishing buddy but today everything worked out. The mission was to move past the bait chunking she has learned on preveious trips and learn to catch fish on an all artificials trip. We put in at one of my favorite Trout spots and and got to work. I hooked a couple on DOA shrimp while the wind was still down and let her reel them in. It was not long before she decided she wanted to do it all by herself. I did not expect much but I gave her some cast and retrieve lessons on how to work a curly tail grub. After dodging a few hooks during practice casts

, I figured she had the basics down and let her have at it with a 4" white Cabelas curly tail grub.
As I am rigging another rod she tells me all too quickly that she thinks she has one. I looked up skeptically thinking she snagged an oyster but sure enough

she had her first of many Trout for the day on an artificial that she did all by herself. We moved around watching the birds and pulling in trout. We caught right around 2 dozen mostly short Trout but she did not mind a bit. She thought the smaller ones were higher on the cute scale. She got the most excitement out of catching her first Flounder which was a respectable 14". She had a blast and spent the evening bragging starting with the Ganoe's who we saw an Wendys on the way out. For me the catch of the day was.................quality time with my little fishing buddy.
