It has been awhile since I have been able to get out with my little fishing buddy but today everything worked out. The mission was to move past the bait chunking she has learned on preveious trips and learn to catch fish on an all artificials trip. We put in at one of my favorite Trout spots and and got to work. I hooked a couple on DOA shrimp while the wind was still down and let her reel them in. It was not long before she decided she wanted to do it all by herself. I did not expect much but I gave her some cast and retrieve lessons on how to work a curly tail grub. After dodging a few hooks during practice casts  , I figured she had the basics down and let her have at it with a 4" white Cabelas curly tail grub.

As I am rigging another rod she tells me all too quickly that she thinks she has one. I looked up skeptically thinking she snagged an oyster but sure enough  she had her first of many Trout for the day on an artificial that she did all by herself. We moved around watching the birds and pulling in trout. We caught right around 2 dozen mostly short Trout but she did not mind a bit. She thought the smaller ones were higher on the cute scale. She got the most excitement out of catching her first Flounder which was a respectable 14". She had a blast and spent the evening bragging starting with the Ganoe's who we saw an Wendys on the way out. For me the catch of the day was.................quality time with my little fishing buddy.

Great times with your little one. Every now and then my daughter makes my day and out of the blue she says to me "daddy, I want to go fishing at the pond!" I usually drop everything I am doing and head to the pond. She just turned 4 and doesn't like to sit still for long so I will give her a little more time before we head out in the kayak together.

Great job, Dad! That's one happy little girl. Looks like it will be time to buy her a yak of her own soon! :D

WTG on catching all those trout. Bonus points for her for touching all those slimy fish!

Looks like she is ready to sign up and win the tourney in May! Won't be long till Ron is the second best fisherman in the family.

Time well spent, great catching Ron, it appears the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She will be out fishing you soon enough.

QT with your children is the greatest, C.

Thanks guys. She really enjoyed seeing her pictures on the website and reading all of the comments about her catches. Her older sister is now jealous and is asking for dibs on the next trip. Gotta love it...

Holy cow RLend, what a beautiful young fishing lady you have on your hands. It is so awesome to simply see that huge smile across that young ladies face as she is holding those prize catches of her's. Too me, there is no greater reward than the time spent with your children while out enjoying what Mother Nature supplies for us all. The big difference is, you as there father, are making sure that they are not just sitting in front of a video game, or in front of the TV, your girls are "wanting" to spend time out on the water, as well as sharing those life time memories with there dad, like they say in the advertisements; "Priceless", I got happy goose bumps scrolling down seeing each photo of your little girl and her catches. I only had one son in my adult life and he is truly awesome, but to have a daughter who is into the sport of fishing like your little one already is, will only lead to many, many more memorable fishing experiences. Fantastic job to the both of you! cobra52
