WOW :D  I just got home from my yearly trip to Purdue for the pest control conference. There was a box from Emmrod and it had me on the phone with them late last night. The reels are Emmrod DCM 2000 series and look to be sweet little pieces of gear. Tiny in size they should be ideal for light tackle work with the Emmrods. They are a simple three bearing reel and in this size rated for 4 to 8lb mono. I plan on loading one up with 8lb Fireline and hitting the water hopefully tomorrow. I'm sure this picture is one of the first on the web. The first time I'll show them in public will be at the Crappiethon Event in Cresent City next Saturday. The reel is inexpensive at $29.95 and looks to represent a pretty good value. Hmmm might be another nice item for the Kayak Classic donations we make.

Jeff, where are these made? At $29 should I assume they are more suitable for freshwater than saltwater?

Is the drag knob sealed?

The reel like most others anymore is a product of China. Can't talk bad about that since a number of the reels I have are Chinese products and work fine. For that matter my Teva sandals and Columbia shirts are also Chinese made. The drag is not sealed but then again neither are the drags on my old Diawa 1300SS reels and they were for years one of the best flats reels ever made. I'm the type of gear geek that pulls the drags apart and sevices them anyway so don't see that it's a big deal. The bodies and rotors are graphite while the spools aluminum. This is a new item for Emmrod and they have plans for other models. I'll have a better idea of the performance once I get a few fish hooked up.
