Hey guys, I hate to even ask this on a fishing forum but some guys from this site have helped me before so I was hoping for more generosity. I have been in the Jax area for a little over a year now. I recently graduated the police academy, and if you have been watching the news you know we are not having an easy time getting employed anywhere near here. I was wondering if anyone knew of people and/or companies in the area that may be hiring. I am open to anything and everything. If you want to PM me instead of replying on this thread feel free. Again, thanks for everyone's time and attention. Good luck out there and stay safe on the water.

Look in to being an insurance adjuster, not a public adjuster. I have recommended this to many of my friends coming out of school unable to find jobs. Many of them have secured jobs and are loving it. With you police background you would be considered to have investigation experience and you may want to enter in to the SIU area of insurance adjusting. I work for an insurance restoration company that works directly with insurance carriers to make the necessary repairs and restoration of homes and businesses that have suffered from water, fire, mold, and wind damage. It's about $300 to get your adjusting license (which is required at first with carriers but it has helps my friends get hired).

Just start throwing me some referrals once you get in the field and that's all the thanks I need.

Sign up for Peoples First to apply for a state job.
They are always looking for FHP, FWC, MCCO, DEP, Etc.
I work for the FDOT as an area inspector. Little pay no overtime, but an honest job that is pretty secure for now.
The FHP can work off duty using their vehicles for a small fee to cover the insurance and fuel.
Their off duty pay is greater than their regular pay sometimes.

Sign up what have you got to lose.

These are some great suggestions guys. I appreciate the ideas and will definitely look into the insurance and people's first. Unfortunately neighboring counties within my range are not hiring either at this time. Thanks again and Nick can I PM you if I have any questions about insurance adjusting?

The link posted above for PeoplesFirst did not work for me, but there is another one in this sample. I got this in 2009 and wanted you to know that your law enforcement training "might" help you land something as a Park Ranger or FWC officer!! What a great combo for you....

This is old stuff, but check it out and logon PeoplesFirst and set up a profile and job agent!!
Good Luck!!
