I've seen a lot of advancements in kayak fishing. One in particular really struck me and that was the use of a trolling motor. I was considering installing a mount and motor so if I needed to make a long trip quicker or if I had to move through a difficult current I had the option.

Next: offshore gear. What tackle do y'all prefer to use? I have two shaman bait runners set up with 50-60lb power pro with 7' rods. I can't formthe life of me what the specs on the rod are. I would like to invest in a bait casting combo that I can use for both inshore and nearshore. Any suggestions?

Trolling motors allow the privilage of registration with the state. So far as gear I really do prefer my Emmrods and with a good casting reel. My latest rig is a Shimano 300DSV on the new Combat Rod. For a spinning outfit I use an Emmrod as well equiped with a Qualia NLF30, for a kid simple outfit an Emmrod Packer with a Qualia MuL 10.
