I often fish using blue crab for bait and like to keep them alive as long as possible. If I get them the day before fishing, some of the crab are usually dead by the time i go to use them.

Anyone have suggestions on how to keep them alive the longest? Thanks!

Craig

I just keep them in my yak by the foot pedals. On those hot days I will cover them with a wet rag. Every couple of hours I will re soak the rag and recover. Keeps them somewhat alive. And make sure to declaw before keeping them in the kayak

I use a baggie with some ice - and remove their claws first. Just make sure they dont cook on a hot day ;)

And if they cook bring some hot sauce.....LOL

Mike and Jae are both right. Dont freeze the crabs but do keep them cool. They can last up to a few days.
